Our Trip to Moscow, Kazan, and Yoshkar-Ola

2. August 2017Angelina Zueva Keller

These fascinating cities are worth visiting at least once! In the summer we went on an exciting journey to Moscow, Kazan, and Yoshkar-Ola with our students. Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Yoshkar-Ola is the capital of the Republic of Mari-El. Never heard? That's our pleasure. After all, we have set ourselves the goal of showing our students real Russia. Russia is huge and has much more to offer visitors rather than just its metropolises, which are, of course, also worth a visit.

During the trip, our students used their Russian at every opportunity – at the airport, at train stations, in restaurants and shops, and, of course, they had long conversations with locals. They were always supported by Angelina, the director of the Russian Language Studio.

So everyone got an opportunity to know the diversity of Russia from Tatar, Marian, and Russian perspectives. It is always fascinating to see how many different peoples and religions live together in a small space, Tatars with Russians, Maris with Russians, Muslims with Christians. The traditional cuisine of these three regions will remain an unforgettable experience for our students for a long time.
